Meet our 2018/2019 Team!

In 2017, Professor Diana Chu at San Francisco State University (SFSU) developed a science communications course to bring masters students across all disciplines of science to discuss new ways of communicating science. Now in its second year, more students have joined the conversation. As scientists, we tend to forget that people have different scientific backgrounds. Some may find science to be intimidating or only open to an exclusive group. This may lead to less people being interested in science as well as a lack of trust towards scientists. Science communications is all about changing this image by establishing a conversation between scientists and the general public. Here at SFSU, we hope to inspire curiosity about science by providing a safe space for the public to ask questions, share experiences, and learn from each other.

On this website, you will find:

  • Profiles briefly describing our research and hobbies

  • Our social media handles so you can reach out to us with your questions and comments on science

  • Videos explaining the cool science each of us is doing at SFSU

  • Personal stories about our lives as researchers and students in the sciences

  • Book reviews on science communication

  • Tips on science communication from guest speakers

  • Advertisements for upcoming science communications events

In providing such a wide variety of viewpoints and personal experiences we hope to gain a positive response from the public in a way that makes science more relatable. Let us know what you think by joining the conversation; share with us your questions and thoughts on science. And thanks for visiting our website!!!
